PEACOCK, Marjorie (Mrs Painter)

“I was 10 years old when the tornado struck the Coe Hill area in 1947. I visiting my friend, Fay (Marshall) Campbell during summer holidays in late August. We had a birthday party in the week for our friend, and Faye’s neighbour, Myrna Ferguson .She was killed by the tornado.  I was lifted by the wind into a tree, and when I was found, I had to be taken first to Bancroft Hospital, then sent on to Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children,  lying on the back seat, with Mom on the floor all the way beside me. I had a cast on my body from my neck to my waist, and one arm was also in a cast. They told me I had a broken shoulder, cracked ribs, and my arm was broken in two places.  I remained into hospital until mid November. ”
