SPRACKETT, Florence Pearl nee Nicholson, June 14, 1923 Wollaston Twp – June 5, 2023 Stirling
Nine days before her 100th birthday, Florence peacefully slept away at Stirling Manor, Stirling, Ontario on June 5, 2023.
Daughter of the late Hugh Nicholson and Ruth Nicholson (McComb), Florence was born June 14, 1923 at the Wollaston Ridge near Coe Hill, Ontario. She grew up on the family farm with her 4 sisters and 2 brothers. After graduating from The Ridge school, she worked at Corbin Locks in Belleville.
She met, fell in love with and after a short courtship, she married Donald Douglas Sprackett on December 23rd, 1942.
They settled in Gilmour where they raised their three daughters Sharon, Sandra and Bonnie Lynne. While raising her children, she also helped with the Sprackett Lumber family business. She sold and even delivered big truckloads of lumber. Very accomplished in math, she could determine lumber costs faster than someone with a calculator.
Her life was rich with laughter, love, hard work and music. She lived for her family, serving as a marvelous cook, chauffeur, life coach, cheerleader and emotional support. Those who knew her appreciated her sense of humour, sound non judgemental nature and her willingness to help others in times of need.
Predeceased by her husband Don and daughter Bonnie Lynne Plumbe, her sons in law Pat Hogan, Ray Peters and Brian Plumbe, her parents Hugh and Ruth Nicholson, 3 of her sisters and their husbands Marjorie (Gorden Stewart), Bernice (Mac Black) Ruth (Alan Carrol) and her 2 brothers Douglas and Carl Nicholson. Also, her sisters and brothers in law Ross and Mary Sprackett, Frank and Hilda Sprackett, Laura and Clayt McKenzie.
She will be forever missed by her daughters Sharon Hogan and Sandra Peters, foster daughter Linda Bowman, Grandchildren Timothy Hogan, Jennifer Dauphin, Robyn Plumbe and Katrena (Smith) Plumbe , her Great Grandchildren Kyle and Ryan Dauphin, Kate and Patrick Hogan, Jordan Fluke, Jenna Marie Plumbe, Addison and Kiara Lynne Plumbe, Shae Lynne, Shayden, Braydon and Kayson Smith and all her family and friends.
Special thanks to all her friends and neighbour’s who helped her so much in Gilmour. To the caring supportive staff at Stirling Manor who cared for her since February 14, 2018, thank you for loving her.
Family and friends were invited to Rushnell Funeral Home, 112 Durham St. S, Madoc (613-473-2833) on Saturday, June 17, 2023 from 12 noon until time of Funeral Service at 1pm. Pastor Don McMurray officiated. Interment Gilmour Cemetery.

SPRACKETT, Frank Verdun 1917 – 2010
On Thursday, October 7, 2010. Frank Sprackett, of Kaladar, formerly of Coe Hill, in his 94th year. Husband of the late Hilda (Tice) Sprackett. Father of Terry (Dianne), Jeanne (Ian) Thompson, Bill (Pat) and the late Donna Anderson. Father-in-law of Oscar (Andy) Anderson. Loved by his many grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family received friends at the McConnell Funeral Home, Madoc, on Tuesday, October 12 from 11 a.m. with Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. Interment Gilmour Cemetery.
I vaguely remember that the Spracketts lived in a house near the Limerick Town Centre and closer to Highway 62N than Coe Hill. I remember when they owned a store in the middle of the village before the Armitages took it over and made into a store/cum restaurant . Sharing memories of the people we knew is so helpful in keeping their memory alive and in understanding family connections.

SPRAGUE, Nola Marguerite (nee Crosby) was born November 17, 1944, at the Belleville General Hospital, to Harold William Crosby and Gladys Crosby (nee Gilroy). She lived in Coe Hill, Ontario, and attended Coe Hill Public School and North Hastings High School in Bancroft. Upon their move to Belleville, she attended Ontario Business College from which she graduated, and entered clerical work in the city of Belleville. She was employed with Oliphant Electric, Canadian Pittsburgh Industries, Trudeau Motors and W.T. Hawkins, to name just a few. She continued working in the clerical field for 12 years. On July 6th, 1974, she married Terry Sprague of Big Island, near Demorestville, in Prince Edward County, and continued working in the clerical field for two more years. Upon the birth of their son, Jeffery Harold Sprague in 1976, she became a full-time housewife and mother until 1988, when she re-entered the work force as a Homemaker for All-Care Health Services, which she continued to do for approximately 10 years.
Continuing with her health care work, she pursued courses with her agency, as well as updating herself at night school to the position of Health Care Aid. She successfully completed her courses at Loyalist College, as well as updating her High School diploma in Picton in 1989, and obtaining an updated Ontario Secondary School Diploma. Nola Sprague also worked privately for individuals needing health care services, and worked with her husband in his nature tour business and did part time janitorial business on weekends and at night. She was known to say that all of her jobs were special to her, and that she loved and had fun with everything she did in life. One of her pastimes was the joy of writing poems and short stories about the value and concepts of her life and, most important, the lives of those people she touched. Her greatest goal was to be constructive in the lives of others.
Nola Crosby Sprague Peacefully at Hospice Prince Edward with her family at her side, on Friday July 20th, 2018. Nola Sprague of Demorestville, at the age of 73. Beloved wife of Terry. Dear mother of Jeffery and his partner Melissa of Quinte West. Fondly remembered by her granddaughter Montana. Mrs. Sprague rested at the Whattam Funeral Home, 33 Main Street, Picton, ON. Funeral service was held in the chapel on Tuesday July 24rd, 2018 at 11 a.m. Friends visited with the family from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Reverend Audrey Whitney officiated. Cremation followed.
Nola was my best friend growing up, so I felt a longer obituary only fitting as a memory for her. Miss you girl. See her memories from Coe Hill and a bit of history of the Crosbys and Gunters, in Terry Sprague’s book: Growing Up Big Island.
