Sept 29 1841 Schooner Woodlands sailing from St John, New Brunswick, Canada to Philadelphia, PA, Sept 29, 1841  – passenger19 year old Gillespie male from Ireland

 

1843

1843  Isabella Gillespie, age 13, ‘appears to be 14;”  bound for Quebec after clearning customs , CANADA from Ireland aboard the ship  JANE DUFFIES . Left Glasgow May 2nd. Arrived in Quebec June 6th The immigrants were assisted by The Glasgow Emigration Societies.

1843   Alice Gillespie to St Lawrence Ward, Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

1844

1844   James Gillespie, from Montreal to Cornwall, (Ontario) aided by a fund to help arriving people.

This next period now covers the Potato Famine desperation in Ireland 1845 to 1852

1846            Mary Gillespie, age 60, to Ontario County in Canada West (Province of Ontario). Note:  Another Isle of Islay, Scottish settler most likely due to location where she was going.

Partridge Island Quarantine Hospital, St John, New Brunswick, death of Wm Gillespie, 64,  From ship PALLAS that sailed from Co Cork, Ireland

April 5, 1847   Daniel Gillespie and Sally on the ship MARCHIONESS OF CLYDESDALE    from Londonderry, Ireland  Arrived  May 17th,  St John, New Brunswick, Canada. Gives their residence as CARN.  (Note: either Co Donegal or Co Fermanagh. Large group from Carn travelling together.)

July 31, 1847  Death of Archibald Gillespie, age 1, at Grosse Island, Quebec from ship EUCHLID.  Port of Departure Glasgow, Scotland. His name is  recorded on the Grosse-Île Quarantine Station Memorial

Ellan Gillespie, sailed on ship ENVOY from Londonderry, Ireland to St John, New Brunswick, Canada 1847. From  Ballybofey,  Co DONEGAL.

Clements Gillespie sailed on ship LONDONDERRY,  1847 from Londonderry, Ireland to St John, New Brunswick, Canada . Clements was from Quigley Point, Co DONEGAL

May 2,  to 2nd July, 1847   Died Francis Gillespie, age 13 from Co SLIGO at  Partridge Hospital, St John, New Brunswick  from ship Barque ALDEBARAN

1847, June 2        Buried on Grosse Island in St Lawrence River, CANADA:  Joseph Graham age three years and nine months, son of George Graham, labourer of the parish of Clogher, Co Tyrone, Ireland, and Elizabeth by her maiden name GILLESPIE, his wife. The child died on the second day of June  on board the Bark,  LORD SEATON, now lying off the Quarantee Station, and was buried on the same day of the said month of the year of our Lord, 1847

June 13th Buried George Graham, aged two years, son of George Graham, labourer  of the Parish of Clogher, Co Tyrone, Ireland and of Elizabeth, by her maiden name, Gillespie, his wife. Child died in hospital on the 13th of June, 1847 (after having disembarked sick).

LORD PALMER, departed Glasgow May 27. Arrived July 3 Consigned to Gillespie & Co.  Released July 3, 1847. 2 sick; 2 died.

ROYAL ALBERT from Glasgow.  Departed May 14, arrived July 6th. Consigned to Gillespie & Co. Released  June 19 1847. 27 sick; 27 dead.

ZEALOUS  from London June 17th. Arrived August 5. Consigned to Gillespie. Released Aug 9, 1847 5 sick, 1 died.

1848

Biddy Gillespie sailed on ship LONDONDERRY, 1848 from Londonderry, Ireland to St John, New Brunswick, Canada – Biddy was from Clonmany, Co DONEGAL

 1850

Mary Gillespie sailed on ship EAGLE, 1850 from  Ireland to St John, New Brunswick, Canada. Mary was from Killygordon,  Co DONEGAL.

1850  Sayers Gillespie, 78, immigrated to Canada to settle at Picton, in Prince Edward County, Ontario
