Dorothy May Gillespie passed away peacefully in the The Village Nursing Home Ridgetown, on Wednesday November 26, 2008 at the age of 90 years. Dorothy was born in Virden, Manitoba and moved to Kirkland Lake, Ontario in 1940 to marry Scott Gillespie. They were married for 56 years until his passing in 1996. Dorothy leaves behind daughters Marianne Leavy and husband Brian of Ridgetown and Barbara King and husband Derek of Thunder Bay; grandchildren: Jennifer, Darren, David, Andrew, Colin and Starla and great grandchildren: Aydia, Connor and Caden. Dorothy had been very active in her church, community choir, rug hooking club and volunteer work. She was retired after being employed for many years as a bookkeeper for the Provincial Government in the Department of Lands and Forests. Cremation has taken place and a Private Family Service held. Interment will be at Kirkland Lake Cemetery.

Gerald A Gillespie, of RR 1, Highgate, and formerly of London, passed away at Four Counties Head Services, Newbury on Friday, March 30, 2001 in his 64th year. Son of the late Ian Hugh and Isabell (Campbell) Gillespie, survived by three children: Debbie and Brian Chandler of Chatham; Currie and Cathy Gillespie of Winnipeg; and Blair Gillespie of London. Also survived by two brothers Peter and his wife Pat of London, and Neil and his wife Marjorie of Thamesville. Fondly remembered by his cousins Margaret and Jack Eberle of RR 1 Highgate, with whom Gerald made his home for the past three years. Note: Mr Gillespie was very active with the Ontario Genealogy Society. We had arranged to meet so he could take me around the county to show me the Gillespie burials and history of the pioneers, many of whom were Islay folk from Scotland, when the news reached me of his sudden death. A great loss to the genealogy community because of his knowledge of the history of that area and especially of the Islay pioneers to the region.

Jo-Anne (Gillespie) Beverly of Chatham died Jan 19, 2013 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance after a lengthy battle with cancer. She is survived by her partner, George, sons Brett of Windsor, Mark, MIchael and Colin (Theresa Gorman), all of Newmarket. Loving grandchildren Blythe, Maddie, Anna and Isaac. Karen Gillespie, With her family by her side, Karen Gillespie passed away knowing she was loved on Tuesday December 31, 2024. She will be missed so much by her husband Joe and her children Bree, Carrie, Chris, Dianna and Jennifer as well as 13 grandchildren, all of whom she was very proud.
Karen was born 75 years ago to the late Mabel and Elgin Faules and was raised in the Arkona area. She was a business teacher by profession and enjoyed doing bookkeeping for many years. She appreciated all the beauty that the world had to offer, be it a full moon over the lake, a fresh blanket of snow or a garden full of spring flowers. She was at peace amongst nature. She made Ridgetown and Shrewsbury her home before settling in Blenheim. She will be missed. Family and friends were invited to the Blenheim Community Funeral Home on Saturday January 18, 2025 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. for a time to meet Karen’s family and to share memories of a life well lived.
