Elsie Gillespie – Elsie was born in Kitley Township in Eastern Ontario and lived a long and healthy life. Elsie died peacefully Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Victoria Hospital in south London with her sons Ron and Roger by her side. She was 97 years, one month and nine days old. She was the last surviving family member of her generation. Beloved wife of the late Harold Gillespie (1987) whom she missed every day. She is fondly remembered by sons Ron (Deb), Roger and Rick (Diane). Daughter Ruth died of cancer in 2013. She will be missed by grandchildren: Shawna Lockie (Andrew), Krista Gillespie (Matt Gregory), Jennifer Gillespie (Jeff Buchanan), Anna Aldred (Luke), Nathan, Laura, Marcia and David Ball (Marianne) and great grandchildren Ben, Madeline, Sienna, Marlie, Alexander, Jonathan, Olivia and Cheyenne. Elsie loved her family including her cat Emma. She is predeceased by her parents Herb and Mary Bellamy, brother Edward and sister Doris. Friends visited at McFarlane & Roberts Funeral Home, 2240 Wharncliffe Road, South, Lambeth 519-652-2020 on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 from 7-9 pm. She was a teacher at schools in Leamington, Riverside, Dorchester and London from 1954 to 1972. She was a member of St. Patrick’s C.W.L and St. Vincent de Paul Society. Visitation at the JOHN T. DONOHUE FUNERAL HOME , 362 Waterloo Street, London on Tuesday evening, October 27th, from 7-9 o’clock and on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 o’clock. Funeral Mass held at St. Patrick’s Church, 377 Oakland Avenue, London on Thursday morning at 11 o’clock. Interment in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

He was an descendant of Isle of Islay Scots who immigrated to Upper Canada in its pioneering years).
Gerald Francis Gillespie, Gerald died peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Bluewater Health on Monday, September 19, 2022 at the age of 81. Beloved husband of Judith. Dear father of Fr. Chris Gillepsie, Elizabeth Brooks (Damien), Joanne Dion (Alain), Thien An Gillespie and Tami Gillespie (Cody). Step-father of Richard Spicer (Melanie) and Chris Spicer. Loving grandpa of Stuart, Natasha, Adam, Kaitlyn, Keira, Ava and Stella. Brother of Jim Gillespie and Mike Gillespie. Predeceased by parents Francis and Joyce Gillespie, son Allan and sister Ann. Gerald came to Canada from Scotland in 1970. He worked as a lawyer with the Ontario Government in Toronto and moved to Sarnia in 1973 to become the city solicitor for Sarnia. In 1985 he moved to private practice and in 2005 became a Deputy Judge in the Sarnia Lambton area. He was very active in volunteer work as well, volunteering with St. John’s Ambulance and the Knights of Columbus. He was on the board of the St. Clair Child and Youth Centre and Goodwill. After retirement in 2015, he continued volunteering with Victim Services of Sarnia Lambton and the Red Cross. Gerald was a kind gentle man who enjoyed working with people. One of his great enjoyments was walking with his beloved dogs. He was also an enthusiastic and knowledgeable aquarist. The family would like to thank the compassionate doctors and nurses at University Hospital London ICU and Bluewater Health ICU. Their quiet, loving presence provided much needed comfort to Gerald and his family. In keeping with Gerald’s wishes cremation has taken place. A private family Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Sacred Heart Church. Interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, London. Arrangements entrusted to the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre.

Peter Currie Gillespie passed away peacefully at home in London on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 after enduring cancer with great courage and grace in his 82nd year. Predeceased by his parents Hugh and Isabel (nee Campbell) Gillespie and his brother, Gerald. Beloved husband of Patricia (nee Hawkins). Cherished father of Hugh (Catherine) of Bermuda; Susan of Eden Mills; Anne (Laurent) of London, England, and John (Laura) of St Thomas. Devoted to his grandchildren Erin, Meredith and Joseph. Sadly missed by his brother Neil (Marjorie). Peter was born on a farm near Thamesville. He studied law and practiced in London for 40 years. He also farmed and was a Director of the Lambeth Horticultural Society and as a Steward of Kilworth United Church. Beloved mother of Ian Gillespie (Dahlia), grandmother of Jonas, Graeme and Gabrielle. She will be sadly missed by her sister and lifelong companion Edie Thompson, and loving niece Lynn Thompson Dovi (Frank). Fondly remembered by sister-in-law Annie Biggar, brother-in-law Bob Biggar and nephews Paul (Terry), Murray (Pam) and Colin (Elaine) Biggar. A graveside service held Saturday, January 28 at Fairview Cemetery at 2 p.m., with a memorial gathering at 2:30 p.m. at the Morse & Son Event Centre, 5929 Main Street.

Stafford Gillespie. Born in Liverpool, England on April 21, 1920, and passed away on January 11, 2021 at University Hospital in London after a brief illness. Beloved husband of and survived by Pamela (Sproule) Gillespie, and father to Michael and Ian. Father-in-law to Cathy Bryant and to Kimberley Downs-Gillespie and grandfather to Ian and Kim’s children Angus, Stafford, Rhoderic, Eloise and Meredith. Stafford and Pamela met and married in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and lived many adventures there before moving to Canada in 1965. The family lived in Canada until 1967, then the United States until 1973, when they returned to Canada. They remained in Canada for the rest of their time together, with frequent trips to Scotland to visit old and new friends. Cremation t the Woodland Cemetery.

Note: All Gillespie burials in both Woodlawn Cemetery and Mt Pleasant Cemetery in London visited August 2020. Both cemetery offices provided listing of all Gillespie graves with internment dates .l walked these huge cemeteries looking for tombstones by section, as that was not indicated. 30 Gillespie grave sites at Woodlawn and only two at Mt Pleasant. Thank you to very helpful staff. I met five deer grazing among the tombstones and not sure who was more surprised. Quite tame, as I later met one lying down who just watched me pass by.
