At Walsingham on 9th January, 1835, John Monroe, only child of William & Harriet Gillaspy in his 19th year. In his removal, affectionate and kind parents have lost an obedient son, and the Church militant robbed of one of its members….about four years ago he was brought from the bondage of sin…and shortly after united himself to the Church of Christ…from which he was called two years after the fist attack of the disease, which terminated his earthly existence, the consumption….(details of his religious faith here). Michael James Meager Gillespie 1982 – 2022. passed away at the Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe on Thursday, June 9th, 2022 in his 43rd year. Cherished son of Marilyn Gillespie (late James) of Simcoe. Loving brother & uncle to Jennifer Kayal (Bruce) of Delray Beach, Florida, their sons Joseph & Robert; and Melissa Gillespie of Port Hope, her children Dalton & Jasmine Westerman. Friends were invited to share their memories of Michael with his family at the Jason Smith Funeral Chapel. North Simcoe, ON N3Y 3R3 on Wednesday, June 15th, 2022 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. A memorial service followed visitation in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Al Feere officiating. Refreshments served in the gymnasium at Bethel Baptist Church, 4059 Hwy #3 East Simcoe.
Josephine Marie Gillespie MCDONALD Entered into the hands of God on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at the age of 81, at the Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe. Beloved wife of Hugh for 60 years. Loving mother to Stephen (Charlotte) and Paul (Alycia). Dear Granny of Hugh, Maxwell, Katharine and Samuel. Also survived by her dear sister, Elizabeth Boyd (Thomas) and sister-in-law Betty McDonald (George, deceased). Predeceased by her parents Josephine and James, her brothers Bernard and George, and her sister Catherine. Josephine will be fondly remembered by her family members in both Canada and Scotland, and her many friends. Visitation was held in the Miller Funeral Chapel, Caledonia, on Thursday, October 20, 2022, from 6 – 8 p.m. A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Caledonia, on Friday, October 21, 2022 at 11 a.m.
