Conducted on August 4, it showed 5,308,483 people were living in the USA, of which 893,000 were slaves. This second census included the new District of Columbia. The census records were lost for: Georgia, Kentucky, New Jersey, Tennessee and Virginia. A total of 110 Gillespie families are charted in: Delaware (4), District of Columbia (2), Maryland (6), New York (29), North Carolina (28), Pennslyvania (28), and South Carolina (13)
