Ann Patricia Gillespie, Our beloved Ann Patricia Gillespie, born in 1947, passed away August 2024 at the age of 77. Ann lived in the Seattle area. She attended Roosevelt High School and graduated from Shorecrest. She is survived by her 3 children; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brother and sister. Ann lived her life loving God, family and dear friends. Her passions were relationships, encouraging others, seeing and knowing deeply those in her life. Ann loved all things beautiful and classy. She loved unconditionally and brightened hearts with her beautiful smile. You will always be loved and missed.

Anna Lucille (Lee) Gillespie,  October 22, 1918 – August 31, 2021.Lee Gillespie died peacefully in her sleep two months shy of her 103rd birthday. She had been tended to through a period of decline by Chuck Mix, her companion of over ten years, who brought her love, laughter, and meaning over the last phase of her life. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Wayne and her eldest son, Donald. She is survived by sons Dave (Kris) and Rick (Carol), six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She had a zest for life and expressed her love freely to her family and many friends. A family Memorial Celebration was  held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Edmonds Food Bank where Lee and Wayne volunteered for many years.

Carson Trae Gillespie, April 20, 1998 – January 27, 2023. age 24, of Fall City, WA, passed away on January 27th, 2023. Carson was the beloved son of Dee and Michael Gillespie; brother of Blake, Ryan, and his sister-in-law, Leah; grandson of Herb and Myrna Bacon and the late Robert and Roberta Gillespie; and the nephew of Shelly Gillespie and Susan Ogiba. He will be missed by his family, his many loving friends, and his dog, Wally. He will be remembered by many for his pure heart, his big smile, and the joy and laughter that always seemed to occur in his presence.

Clyde James Gillespie, Jr. was born February 12, 1940 to parents Clyde John Gillespie, Sr. and Cleo Jeanette Gillespie in Lenore, Idaho. As a young boy he loved hunting and fishing, working with his dad in the hay fields, the old-fashioned way, all by hand. His favorite toys were ones he made with his own hands out of wood and corn silks – pretending it was hay. An interesting tidbit about the Gillespie family is that all their initials were CJG. He went to schools in Lenore, Ahsahka, and Orofino, Idaho where he graduated from high school in 1959.

He worked in the lumber industry as a young man. The work was hard, but he loved the smell and feel of wood. He married a local farmer’s daughter, Nila N. Skaggs on June 27, 1959, one month after graduating from high school and they later had two children. He attended a part of a year at the University of Idaho in Moscow Idaho, and they then bought eight acres above Ahsahka and raised sheep and grew a huge garden while Nila canned everything he grew. He later received an Engineering Certificate from Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho.

Clyde and Nila moved from Idaho in 1972 to Washington State – first to Sumner, Washington, then to Puyallup, Washington. He worked for the Washington State Forest Service as a surveyor and later took a wide variety of jobs. He fell in love with dahlias and has became an expert on growing them. They won him many blue ribbons at the Washington State Fair over the years and he loved sharing tubers with friends and family. They say you can never take the farmer out of the man, and that was so very true with Clyde. His yard and garden kept him outside all year long, either getting it ready to plant, or tending to beautiful flowers and lovely vegetables that he so enjoyed sharing. He loved going to church and enjoyed serving as Head Usher, where he was totally dedicated to this ministry.

He was preceded in death by their son, Alonzo Clyde Gillespie (Al) in 2012, a sister Charlotte Jeanette Choate in 2013, his father in 1998 and his mother in 2017.

He leaves behind his wife Nila of 60 years, one daughter Lauri Lianne Anderson and her husband Gerald (Jerry) Anderson, and one grandchild, Jacob Lee Burnett. He also leaves behind one sister Carolyn Joan Turner and husband Dale Turner. He has many nephews and nieces. A memorial service was held Nov. 10, 2019  at Sound Life Church in Tacoma, WA.  Published in Clearwater Tribute, Idaho

Doris Jansen Gillespie, Was born October 28, 1911 in Seattle, WA where she resided for her entire life with the exception of 2 school years spent in Seward Alaska, w/ Summers at that time at the Fauntleroy beach. Her parents were Charles Henry Jansen & Jennie Louise Jansen, nee Wright (of family stock arriving before statehood). She graduated from the original Lafayette Grade School & West Seattle High School, entered the UW at age 16, and graduated w/ a degree in medical social work at age 20. She was also the 1st Worthy Advisor of West Seattle Rainbow Assembly, and served her sorority Phi Omega Pi which later merged with Delta Zeta and served in advisory capacities on the local & national levels for collegiate and alumni. She was also proud of her work w/ P.T.A. & Girl Scouting. On May 16, 1936 Mom and Dad, Stuart C. Gillespie were married and they enjoyed 45 years of marriage until his untimely death in 1981. They were able to share many fine travel memories throughout the years at Napili Kai Beach Club, Maui, and cruising the World, enjoying Charter Membership in the View Ridge Swim & Tennis Club, ballroom dancing at the “100 Club,” and active participation in the Seattle Photographic and the Puget Sound Maritime Societies. Mom worked for Harborview Hospital in the 1st class of Medical Social Workers, and later as a Field Representative for Children’s Home Society of Washington. She was also active as a volunteer doing programs for nursing homes, assisting at the National Archives, and as a docent at the Museum of History and Industry. Doris passed away on December 17, 2007. She is survived by daughter, Betty G. Dolan, son-in-law, James M. Dolan, and the large loving Dolan family. At her request, there will not be a service. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements were handled through People’s Memorial Funeral Cooperative.

Edith Gillespie April 19, 1929 – June 8, 2018.  Passed away on the June 8, 2018 peacefully in her sleep. She was born in the Queen Anne neighborhood of Seattle to Maria and Luigi Rubattino on April 19, 1929. Edith worked at Hostess bakery and later worked at Rogers Candies. After her pursuits in the sweets industry, she became a cook’s aide at the United Cerebral Palsy Center. She met the love of her life, Keith Gillespie, to whom she married on September 1, 1956. They were together for fifty years, during that time they raised two daughters. Edith prided herself in maintaining an immaculate home and working in her beautiful gardens. Edith also enjoyed hosting social events where she served her “mean” clam dip. Her husband Keith passed away in 2007. She remained in her North Seattle home until 2010. She then continued her life with the help of her family. She was preceded in death by her twin brother Eddie Rubattino, her sister Mary Dover and her beloved cat Dizzy Gillespie. Edith is survived by her daughters Tina Freiss and Rita Gillespie, her son-in-law Bennie Freiss, her grandson Anthony Freiss, and her great grandchild Taylor Freiss. We will always have fond memories of Edith and know that somewhere in the universe she has reunited with loved ones. We love and miss you Mom,

James R Gillespie, b Feb 25, 1943, Bob passed away quickly and peacefully on October 4, 2012 at the age of 69 after a short and courageous battle with the same type of cancer he so bravely and miraculously overcame just 10 years prior. Bob was born in Seattle on February 25, 1943 and attended West Seattle High School. He joined the Seattle Police Department in 1962 where his career spanned 40 years. He started his career as a Patrol Officer and later spent time serving in various units such as the Motorcycle Unit, Special Patrol Unit, SWAT, and as a Dective in both the Vice and Fugitive Units. After retiring in 2002 he then split his time between Seattle and Goodyear, AZ, enjoying a decade of retirement, most of which was spent on the golf course. Besides being a devoted husband and father, Bob was a born athlete who loved sports and excelled at many, sharing this passion with his family and friends both on and off the field as player and coach. Bob was blessed to have his loving wife of more than 38 years, Terry Howell Gillespie, by his side until the end. He is also survived by his son, James R. “Rob” Gillespie, and daughter, Darci Gillespie, both of Seattle, along with his sister, Karen Murphy and her husband Pat Murphy, daughter-in-law, Selina Gillespie, and two beloved grandchildren, Noa and Holden. Bob also leaves behind numerous friends from his years in Seattle and those spent in his Arizona community of Pebblecreek. A Celebration of Bob’s life was held on Friday, October 12th beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Mercer Island Community & Events Center, 8236 SE 24th Street, Mercer Island.

After the war he met his beloved wife, Edith who he married in 1956 and just recently celebrated their 50th anniversary. Keith worked for Standard Oil for 32 years; there he met many lifelong friends. Keith is survived by his wife, Edith, daughters, Tina Freiss and Rita Gillespie, grandson, Anthony Freiss and great granddaughter, Taylor Freiss. At his request a private service will be held.

Larry Donaldson Gillespie, born Dec 2, 1941, 69 of Georgetown, WA died August 30, 2011 from complications resulting from a stroke. He is survived by his sister JonElla Miller of Spokane. Larry (affectionately known as: Larry G, Boss, Lawrence of Alaska and Lucky Larry) was born December 2, 1941 in Knoxville, Iowa. His family moved to Nome, Alaska at an early age. He moved to Anchorage and lived there until the late 80s. He relocated to Seattle and lived as close to Boeing field as one can live. Yes, airplanes were Larry’s lifelong fascination. His first career as transportation manager for the Alaska Army National Guard earned great honors for his unique ability to move mountains of gear and equipment efficiently and with huge cost savings. Among many awards were National Guard Traffic Manager of the year nation-wide and National Defense Traffic Manager of the year – second place world-wide. Larry also received a nomination to West Point in 1963 and obtained his twin-engine pilots license. Larry’s love for aviation continued for the next 30 years beginning with the successful completion of the Stanford University Airline Executive Program in 1983. Larry is remembered so dearly by scores of lifetime friends. Hewas a mentor, a friend, a motivator, a planner, a promoter and brilliant aviation entrepreneur. Larry created 6 aviation companies during his career and was in the process of the 7th at the time of his death. His vision, drive, mentoring, friendship and, most of all, his unique humor will be missed by everyone he touched in life. To quote Bach in Jonathan Livingston Seagull,’To fly as fast as thought, to anywhere that is,’ he said,’ you must begin by knowing that you have already arrived’ We love you Larry. Roberta A Gillespie, age 82, Seattle. Our beloved Roberta passed away on Friday, November 24, 2017 surrounded by family. Roberta was born on May 18, 1935 in Minneapolis, Minn. to her mother, Mary Martin. Roberta met her husband of 62 years, Robert (Bob) Gillespie of West Seattle, while attending an all-city dance as a Junior at Franklin High School. Bob and Roberta were married on September 17, 1955 in Seattle. Roberta retired from Boeing after 25+ years as an Executive Secretary. Her co-worker described her as smart, capable, kind and compassionate. Roberta was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, aunt and grandmother. We are comforted to know she is now in heaven with her mother, Mary Martin, who preceded her in death. Roberta was the mother that everyone loved and her door was always open. Roberta loved to work in her garden and was an avid reader. She adored golden retrievers and had a special spot in her heart for all dogs. She was a Seahawk fan back to the Zorn/Largent days (#80 being her all-time favorite player). We will miss Roberta’s laugh, Monday morning quarterback talks and most of all seeing her at the holiday table. Roberta is survived by her loving husband – Robert Gillespie Seattle; daughter Shelly Gillespie Seattle; son and daughter-in-law Michael and Dee Gillespie, Fall City; grandchildren Ryan Gillespie and Leah Becker Chicago; Blake and Carson Gillespie Fall City; sister-in law Lois Retynski Arizona; nephews Scott Wilson Colorado and Jay Isenhower Hawaii. Thomas Brandon Gillespie, was born on June 16,1975 at Northwest Hospital in Seattle, Washington. Brandon passed away on September 20, 2024, following a long illness. He spent his early childhood on Bainbridge Island and later moved back to Seattle to attend The Bush School, graduating in 1993. He was accepted to the New York University Stern School of Business and graduated in 2002 with a dual degree in both finance and marketing. Brandon worked on Wall Street from 1997-2002 and married his high school sweetheart, Ashley Stansbury, in July 2001. He also attended The Institute of Culinary Education in New York City from 2000-2001. Brandon then moved to Italy for a year where he attended The International Culinary Institute in Piedmont, Italy. After returning to New York City, he worked for Italian Wine Merchants and celebrated the birth of his first daughter, Madden, in 2004. In 2006, when twin daughters, Ellody and Tya, were on the way, Brandon and his wife returned to Seattle to be closer to family. Brandon opened his restaurant, “beato”, in West Seattle in 2006. In 2008, he moved on to become a food and beverage consultant where he assisted many local Seattle restaurants and businesses. During this period, Brandon was also accepted to The Leadership Tomorrow Program, which was a source of great pride and a catalyst for exciting opportunities in the years ahead.

Brandon valued his relationships with family above anything else. He worked hard to maintain a balance between the demands of his job and spending time with his wife and daughters. While Brandon had many successes in life, he believed his greatest achievements of all to be his three daughters: Madden, Tya and Ellody. He spent much of his free time coaching them in soccer, teaching them to ski, taking long walks with them on the beaches of Whidbey Island and sharing his love for food and cooking with them on evenings and weekends. He was proud of them beyond words and always commented on what amazing women they had become. He also served on the Bush School Board of Trustees for a number of years while the girls were students there. Brandon was a devoted son, father, brother and friend, cherished by all who had the good fortune to know and love him. He had a fun-loving, adventurous spirit and was a natural leader with his peers from early childhood. He loved the outdoors and skiing. He also spent much of his time mountain biking and playing soccer, as they were his favorite sports. He had a strong work ethic and always put in 100% of his effort. Most of all, he was a loving, affectionate, thoughtful and kind-hearted person who will be missed by all.

Brandon is survived by his mother and stepfather, Nancy and Michael Pietromonaco, his sister, Heather Gillespie, stepsisters Shannon Fortman and Christa Pietromonaco, daughters Madden, Tya and Ellody Gillespie and a large extended family and group of friends. The celebration of his life was held on Sunday, December 22nd, from 1:30-4:00 at The Center for Urban Horticulture, 3501 NE 41st Street, Seattle, WA, 98105.

William Bradwin Gillespie, “Brad” Brad was born in Vancouver, BC to William and Vera Gillespie in 1921. They settled in Seattle when he was a young boy. Brad attended Fairview Elementary, John Marshall Jr. Hi, Roosevelt High School, and graduated from The U of W with a degree in civil engineering. He was in the Marine Corps V12 program. After graduation he went to Quantico, Va. on active duty where he married his college sweetheart, Eileen Clarke in 1945. Brad then served in China with the occupation forces for one year. Upon his return he, Eileen, and son David moved to Longview. Ann was born in July. Daughter, Susan was born nine years later. In 1948 they moved to Seattle where he worked for Seattle City Light, for the 18 years. Brad remained active in the Marine Corps Reserves and was called up in 1950. He served in Korea for 13 months. He remained in the reserves and retired with 33 years service and the rank of Colonel, having served 2 years as the CO of the 4th Shore Party Battalion, Sand Point Naval Air Station. In 1963 he became Director of the Flood Control Department of the King County Public Works Division. Brad retired from the County in 1982 and Eileen retired from teaching the same year. He was active in his church, the University Temple United Methodist Church. He served on the board of directors of the King County Credit Union. He enjoyed family, friends, woodworking, the northwest and reading. Brad developed diabetes in 1980. For the last few years, he was in the assisted living and health center of Bayview Manor. He received excellent care from the staff and with the help of his caring physician at Group Health Coop, he was able to continue to enjoy his wife’s company, and his family and friends. He passed away on February 2, after a short bout with pneumonia, with most of his family present. He is survived by Eileen, his wife of 60 years, son David(Nancy), daughters Ann and Susan (Archie), his sister Patricia Polley, in Everett, and her family, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and two on the way. Memorial service was  held at University Temple United Methodist Church on Saturday Feb. 12, at  Acacia Funeral Home, Seattle, WA.  Published Feb 6, 2005

Rev. Dr. William Taylor Gillespie, 97, went to be with the Lord on August 23, 2009 in Shoreline, WA. Bill was born March 10, 1912 in Fowler, CA, the third child of John Moore & Elizabeth King Gil lespie. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 51 years, Geraldine Anderson, his two brothers, Kenneth & John, and sister, Mary. Bill is survived by his wife, Alice; daughter, Gail Riley (Stan); granddaughter, Teresa Williams (Jimmy); great grand children, Nick & Elizabeth Pritch ard; sister, Martha Spencer; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews. Bill graduated from Bible Insti tute of Los Angeles, Sterling Col lege in Kansas & San Francisco Theological Seminary during the Great Depression. The struggle to pay tuitions motivated him to establish scholarship endowment funds at Sterling College, Sheldon Jackson College, Sitka, AK, Cook College, Tempe, AZ and seminar ies in Dubuque, IA, Pittsburgh, PA, San Francisco, CA and in Kenya & Malawi, Africa. More than 150 students preparing for Christian ministry have been helped by Gillespie scholarships. During his 60 years of ministry Bill served 3 congregations in CA; among them, First Church Oak land & St. Paul’s San Francisco be fore coming to Westminster PC on Capital Hill, Seattle where he was pastor for 28 years. He was chap lain for the Seattle Police Depart ment for more than 30 years. A memorial service was held on Friday, September 25, 2009, 2:00 p.m., University Presbyteri an Church, 4540 15th Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98105.
