This third census, conducted on August 6th, showed 7,239,881 people living in the USA, of which 1,191, 362 were slaves. It include one new state: Louisiana. The original census for the District of Columbia, Georgia, Mississippi, New Jersey, Ohio, and Tennessee were lost or destroyed over the years. This census chart indicates a total of 146 Gillespie households: Delaware (2), Kentucky (11), Louisiana (1), Maryland (6), Massachusetts (1), New York (47), North Carolina (19), Pennsylvania (41), South Carolina (14) and Tennessee (4).
