Paul Gillespie JENSEN of Kailua-Kona, died age 73 on June 20, 2016 in Kona Community Hospital.  He was a retired Realtor at Clark Realty, and employee of Printed Circuits International and Optical Coating Laboratories. John William Gillespie III – of Kilauea, Kauai, died age 67 on July 13, 2017 on  Kauai. He was born in Akron, Ohio on June 27, 1949. III passed away at home in Kilauea, Hawaii, after a long battle with cancer and coronary heart disease. Born in Akron, Ohio on June 27, 1949 to John W. (Jack) Gillespie and Hazel Alderdice Gillespie, he grew up in Akron with his three sisters. Graduating from Revere Senior High in 1967, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served two years, with one year overseas in Seoul, South Korea.

Upon returning to Akron after his military duty, he attended The University of Akron where he majored in Criminal Justice. During his college years, he was President of Lone Star Fraternity and began working at B.F. Goodrich. He became an integral part of the B.F. Goodrich T/A racing team, traveling worldwide to sponsored events on behalf of the company. He moved to Seattle, Wash. to become involved in sales in the garment industry, and eventually moved to New York and Los Angeles in similar positions. He moved to Kauai, Hawaii in 1990 where he used his experience with cars and tires to work in the automotive sales industry. After a long career, he retired from King Auto Center in 2015 to pursue his love of golf fulltime.

He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Elena Javinar Gillespie of Kilauea, Hawaii; his sister, Suzanne Gillespie Keeth of Las Vegas and sister, Sally Gillespie of Akron, Ohio; nephews, Matthew Gillespie (Becky), Christian Keeth (Ashley), Brian Zeno and Michael Zeno (Sara); and niece, Jordan Keeth Galina (Mathew). He was preceded in death by his parents and older sister Gale Gillespie Zeno of Columbus, Ohio.

For all those that knew John, he was a fierce friend with a wicked wit and a fabulous cook who had a great passion for golf. His friends were friends for life, as were his customers . A Celebration of Life was held from 2 to 5 p.m.

Joseph Clarence Gillespie,  85, of ‘Aiea, died May 17, 2007. Born in Ashland, Pa, he was a retired electrical engineer for the federal government. Survived by sons, John, David and Thomas; brothers, James and William; four grandchildren. Service 11:30 a.m. Friday at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. Aloha attire. Josephine Mary “Jo” Gillespie, (nee McManamon) of Glenhest, Newport, County Mayo, 89, passed away December 05, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife for 65 years of the late James E. Gillespie Sr. Loving mother of James Jr. (Carol), Thomas Retired CFD (Debbie), Mary Ann (Timothy) Nolan, Patrick Retired CPD (Rose Anne), John Retired CPD (Rebecca), Daniel Retired CPD (Krista), Michael Retired CPD (Katie) and the late Nancy Josephine. Dearest Grandma of 17 and Great-Grandma of 15. Loving sister of the late Tony (late Patricia), late Tommy (Mary B), late James (late Nora), late Jack (late Evaline), late Patrick (Mary), late Sarah McManamon, late Mary (late Tom) O’Boyle, late Kate (late Jack) O’Haire and the late Winnie Coffey. Survived by her sisters Joan (late James) Duncan, and Bernadette McKenna. Sister-in-law of the late William (late Mickey) Gillespie, late John “Jack” (late Mary) Gillespie and the late Reverend Thomas Gillespie. Auntie Jo was a fond Aunt to many nieces and nephews worldwide.

Josephine left home at 18 years of age and boarded a ship heading to America. She arrived in New York and boarded a train to Chicago where she was met by her dear Aunt Catherine Rice and sister Winnie. She found work at Prudential Insurance, the tallest building in Chicago at the time as she told her family back home. Josephine was a hardworking and kind soul who was loved by all who knew her. She had seven children but she took joy in mothering all of her children’s friends. Josephine was devoted to her Catholic faith, family and friends and will be dearly missed by all. As Mom would say after sharing a cup of tea, “God Bless”.

Visitation Friday December 13th from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Saturday December 14th 9:00 – 10:00 AM from Tohle Funeral Home, 4325 W. Lawrence Ave. to St Edward Church  4350 W. Sunnyside, Mass 10:30 AM. Interment Maryhill Cemetery.

Ray Wesley Gillespie, who lived in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, passed away at the age of 71 on  Nov 27, 2013. Born in Leavenworth, Kansas ,May 9, 1952 he was the first of three children. After graduating from Command & Staff College, Ray did two tours in Vietnam. He obtained his Masters degree and after serving 22 years in the Army, Ray retired in Honolulu as a Lt. Colonel where he then worked for the State of Hawaii.
