Brandon Rodd Gillespie, 45, passed away unexpectedly, Friday, August 2, 2024. Branden was born February 20, 1979, son of Rodney Gillespie and Paulette Barnard Gillespie at Calais Regional Hospital in Calais, Maine. Branden spent his childhood years growing up in Charlotte, Maine. For years he loved playing hockey at the Border Arena playing with St. Stephen Hockey. He loved the outdoors, any season, including hunting and fishing. He also had a lifelong passion for airplanes, with time spent flying around Washington County with neighbor, Ed Arbo. Branden attended high school in Calais, graduating from The School of Tomorrow in 1998. He lived in Bangor, most of his adult life having many amazing, supportive friends in his life. Branden loved his family immensely.

He is survived by his son, his most prided achievement, Branden James Gillespie; mother, Paulette Gillespie; father, Rodney Gillespie and wife, Kathy; sister, BryAna Gillespie; and grandmothers, Pat Barnard and Lorraine Gillespie. Branden is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews; and Godparents, Mary and Tom Delmonaco. He was predeceased by both grandfathers, Paul Barnard and Allen Gillespie; and aunt, Katherine Barnard. Branden was loved unconditionally and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. A graveside service was held 2 p.m. Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Round Pond Cemetery in Charlotte. John K Gillespie, 74, died peacefully on February 13, 2026, surrounded by family. Born March 28, 1951 and raised in Calais, John was the son of Marian and Henry Gillespie. He enjoyed a childhood full of friends, skiing, and Boy Scout activities, attaining an Eagle Scout Merit Badge. After a family move to Waterville, he met Cheryl Grant at a YMCA dance in 1967. John graduated from Waterville High School in 1969 and went on to University of Maine at Orono. John and Cheryl married in 1971and graduated from UMO in 1973 and 1974, respectively. They moved to the Portland area for job opportunities. It became their home.

John found the craft and art involved in building rewarding and after learning from other builders, started his own business involving renovation. He worked with Portland Land Marks and refurbished townhouses. He later became involved in custom residential building with a specialty in historic reproductions. John and Cheryl raised their two daughters in one of his Greek Revival, center chimney capes in Falmouth. Through his career, J. Gillespie Builders created over 100 houses in the Greater Portland area.

John is survived by his wife Cheryl Grant Gillespie of 54 years, daughter Darcie Hohwald and husband Stephen, daughter Kelsey Gillespie, and granddaughter Maya Hohwald, and several beloved family dogs and friends. A celebration of life was  held on February 28th from 1to 3 pm at Brunos, 33 Allen Avenue, Portland, Maine 04105. Lilian Jane Gardener Gillespie, born Sept. 9, 1950, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2024, at the Sussman House, while surrounded by her loving family. Her passing was preceded by a sudden decline in health due to pancreatic cancer. As such, her loss was unexpected and profoundly saddening to her family and friends.

Mary Jane Gillespie passed away peacefully on Oct. 21, 2011, age 60, of Portland, Maine surrounded by a loving family after a long illness. She was born in Portland on Oct. 21, 1951 to William and Evelyn (Nute) Gillespie who preceded her in her passing.
She is survived by her sister Linda MacDonald and her husband Jim, brother Michael Gillespie,sister Donna Pooler, brother William Gillespie and his wife Lisa, brother Patrick Gillespie and his wife Anna, sister Ellen Gillespie, sister Mary Ann Weeman; 21 nieces and nephews; 17+ great-nieces and nephews; four great-great-nieces and nephews; and her loving companion Gus the dog. Mary Jane donated her life to helping others as a Certified Nursing Assistant and will be remembered as the best Aunt a child could ever have. We love you Aunt Mimi. Paulette M. Gillespie (Calais, Maine), passed away on January 11, 2025, at the age of 71,She was predeceased by: her son Branden R Gillespie (BryAna); her sister Katharine Barnard; and her father Paul Joseph Barnard of Calais, Maine.. Paulette Marie Gillespie passed away on January 11th, 2025 with family by her side. Paulette was on born June 13, 1953, the daughter of Pat and Paul Barnard of Calais, Maine. Paulette spent her career doing what she loved, helping people. She earned her LPN spending many years as a nurse in the operating room, emergency dept, and lastly the health center in Princeton. Her work colleagues turning to close friends throughout the years. She was selfless, compassionate and kind, by far the hardest working woman around.  During Paulette’s free time, she enjoyed going for cruises around town, always finding a bargain while shopping, and having a drumstick ice cream after supper. Family was always important, and she always made sure to pay a visit to her mother (Gram) and bring her whatever food she had in mind. Her favorite was heading downtown to the antique store. She would always find something to buy, no matter if it would fit through the doorway or not.

In addition to her two children, Branden R and BryAna, Paulette raised her grandson Branden J from a very young age. She found so much joy in watching “Little Branden” play baseball and basketball, hardly missing a game. The love she had for her three children knew no limits. They were her entire world, her pride and joy. She was the absolute best mother. She did however make sure they knew who the favorite was right up until the very end…the baby of course. She was predeceased by her son Branden R Gillespie, sister Katharine Barnard, and father Paul Joseph Barnard. She is survived by her grandson Branden J Gillespie, daughter BryAna Gillespie, mother Pat Barnard, sister Deborah, husband Calvin Murphy, sister Sharon, husband Babe Moholland, brother Brian, wife Leslie Barnard, and many more loving family members and dear friends that felt like family. Peter H Gillespie, of Limestone, husband of the late Margaret (Wylie) Gillespie, passed away Monday afternoon, March 18, 2024, age 87 at the Aroostook House of Comfort, Presque Isle, following an extended illness. He was born November 27, 1936 in Fort Fairfield, the son of Herbert and Theresa (Dionne) Gillespie.

He was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School, class of 1954 and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Maine, Orono. Peter worked as a teacher in Woodstock, New Brunswick four years prior to moving to Limestone, where he served as a Junior and Senior High School Physical Education and Health Teacher for twenty-eight years. Peter was a member of the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Louis Catholic Church, Limestone, a member of the Phi Eta Cappa Fraternity, Orono, the Limestone and Fort Fairfield Knights of Columbus, the Limestone Lions Club, and a past Basketball and Soccer official serving all over the State of Maine. Peter also served eight years in the Maine Army National Guard.

In addition to his parents, Peter was predeceased by his wife Margaret on July 11, 2023; two brothers, Wilfred and Ralph Gillespie; five sisters, Martina Gillespie, Catherine Gillespie, Sister Mary Adeline Gillespie, Germaine Staples and Helen Bubar. He is survived by one daughter, Krista Newsome and her husband Robert of Norwich, CT; two sons, John H. Gillespie of Limestone, Peter A. Gillespie and his wife Sokie West Gillespie of Raleigh, NC; three sisters, Jeane Byrne of Florida, Marjorie Murray of Cape Elizabeth, and Ann Santinelli of Milford, NH; a brother-in-law, Roger Bubar of Fort Fairfield; grandchildren, Shane and Meagan Gillespie of Raleigh, NC, Austin Newsome of Norwich, CT, Alexandra DiPietro of Colchester, CT, Abigail Feder-Craney of Lebanon, CT; step-grandson, Jona West of Raleigh, NC; great grandchildren, Josephine and Lorelei Showalter of Raleigh, NC; numerous nieces and nephews.A Mass of Christian Burial has taken place in the spring at the Parish of the Precious Blood, St, Louis Catholic Church, Limestone. Theresa A. Gillespie, 88, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017, at Fallbrook Woods, in Portland. Born on July 24, 1929, in Berlin, New Hampshire, Theresa was the daughter of the late Adelard and Eva (Letellier) Langevin. In her early life, Theresa remained in New Hampshire where she married Robert Gillespie on Sept. 18, 1948. Robert and Theresa raised their family in Gorham, New Hampshire, until moving to Portland and then South Portland, where they made their home. Together they shared 43 years of marriage until Robert predeceased her in 1991. Over the years, Theresa worked for Fairchild Semiconductor and Uncle Andy’s Restaurant, and operated a wallpaper shop. However, the work she enjoyed the most was with South Portland High School cafeteria, where she enjoyed being known as “Nana” by her grandchildren and their classmates.
In the years after Robert’s death, Theresa reconnected with an old neighbor who was also widow,  Sam Robinson. Theresa enjoyed traveling with Sam and spending time at his cottage on Sebago Lake. They shared many years together until his death in 2009.
Theresa had a quick sense of humor, loved to socialize, was a very good cook and loved to play golf. She also loved to read and was a wicked cribbage player.

In addition to her parents, husband, and Sam, Theresa was predeceased by five siblings. She is survived by her children, Darlene Kelman, and husband Scott, of Bridgton; Jim Gillespie, and wife Jackie, of South Portland; Gary Gillespie, and wife Priscilla, of Scarborough; Scott Gillespie, and wife Pamela, of Lyman; and Karen Dunbar, and husband Steve, of Saco; grandchildren, Jason, Chris, Sean, Kelly, Melinda, Kristina, Josh, Sarah and Dillon; 13 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Rita Gagne, Helen Ramsey, Norman Langevin and wife Annette, and Peggy Pettengill.
The family would personally like to give a BIG thank you to the staff at Fallbrook Woods and Hospice of Southern Maine for their wonderful care and support to our Mom and our family.
Visiting hours celebrating Theresa’s life was held Thursday, Nov. 30, from 4-7 p.m. at theConroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home,
172 State St., Portland. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday, Dec. 1, at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, 124 Cottage Rd., South Portland. Interment followed at Calvary Cemetery, Broadway, South Portland.
