Brett Newell Gillespie Jan 24, 1960 – Oct 4, 2025. New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery. On Saturday 4 October, Brett Gillespie, 65 yrs. of Northwood, New Hampshire passed away peacefully at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital after a drawn-out cardiac battle. Brett was an over the road truck driver, owner of a trucking company. He also over the years owned other businesses including an automotive repair shop, cable-line installation, and water company. If there was a deal to be made – Brett would do it. He served in the US Army and National Guard from 1979 – 1985. His wife of 31 years, Stephanie, passed away in April 2021 after a cardiac event at the age of 60. Brett left behind his Mother Irene, 92 of Northwood, NH, a brother Brian, a daughter Jennie, and son Sammy and three grandchildren Arina, Tamen, and Anthony. He was a member of Rolling Thunder(R), Inc. New Hampshire Chapter I since 2003 and was cremated in his vest. He was crucial in those early years of RT NH 1 getting established within the Biker and Veteran Communities. He loved to fish, go on ventures with his faithful dog Odie. and spend as much time as possible with his grandchildren. He was interned at 10 AM on Wednesday 17 December 2025 at the New Hampshire Veterans’ Cemetery in Boscawen New Hampshire.

Dorothy M Gillespie, RN beloved by all who knew her for her kindness, compassion and sense of humor, died Wednesday, Dec. 21. 2022. She was 95 and a longtime Londonderry, N.H., resident until a recent move to the Bedford Falls assisted living facility.

She was the wife of the late Gerald M. Gillespie, a sergeant with the Londonderry Police Department whose officers knew her as “Mrs. G.,” much to her delight. Dorothy was a true coal miner’s daughter. She was born in Duryea, Penn., on Aug. 19, 1927, a daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Gowlis) Mazurkivich. She graduated from Livermore High School and St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing, both in Waterbury, Conn.

Dorothy worked as a registered nurse in hospitals in Waterbury and Bridgeport, Conn., as well as in Manchester and Nashua. She had also worked in physician’s offices, a school of nursing, and did some industrial nursing. Dorothy was a long-time volunteer in the office at St. Mark’s Roman Catholic Church in Londonderry, where she enjoyed the camaraderie of the “Monday Morning Ladies” as they counted the weekend collection offerings. Her faith was a quiet and genuine comfort to her. Her family was the main joy in her life. She was very devoted to them all, and cooking for them, especially holiday menus, was one of her favorite activities. At Christmas and Easter, she kept Lithuanian traditions alive with special foods and activities. All Dorothy ever wanted for her birthday each year was to see everyone in person, preferably all at once. She was also a fan of reading, word puzzles, and meteorology.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary Helen Gillespie of Londonderry; four sons, Edward G. (Annie) Gillespie of Wolfeboro, N.H.; Daniel M. (Karen) Gillespie of Manchester, N.H.; Timothy F. (Charlotte) Gillespie of Derry, N.H; and Michael J. (Brenda) Gillespie of Londonderry; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; her brother, Anthony Paul Mazurkivich of Waterbury, Conn., and a special niece, Carol A. Mazurkivich of Waterbury, Conn. Dorothy is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Arthur Mazurkivich and the late John Mazurkivich.

She was predeceased by her husband in 2017. Known affectionately by their children as “Dort and Ger,” the happy couple thrived side-by-side in their family room reading newspapers, watching sports and laughing at reruns of favorite comedies, plus “Jeopardy” and “NCIS.” Calling hours held Wednesday, Dec. 28 from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Dec. 29 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mark’s Church, 1 South Road, Londonderry. Burial will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Gilcreast Road, Londonderry.

Gwain H Gillespie. On April 17, 2021, Gwain Homer Gillespie, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather after a self-proclaimed wonderful life, died in New London, New Hampshire, surrounded by his family. He was 89 years of age. Gwain was born on December 7, 1931, in St. Cloud, Minnesota, United States, son of Homer and Ruth (Auker) Gillespie. Gwain was one of eight siblings and, after the family moved to Owatonna MN, he graduated from high school there. Among his accomplishments, he was president of the senior class, voted “Most Likely to Succeed” and excelled in athletics, rising to become the captain of the football team. Gwain’s accomplishments in high school foreshadowed his success in abundant future endeavors. Gwain attended Gustavus Adolphus College for two years and then transferred to the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where he graduated in 1953 with a Bachelor of Business Administration.

While at the University of Michigan, Gwain married Faith (nee Kruger), with whom he had seven children, Shannon, Kevin, Gwain, Robin, Alison, Patrick, and Colin. They divorced in 1976. In 1979, Gwain married Janet (nee Warn) and embraced her two children, Michael and Patricia, as his own. Upon graduation from UofM, Gwain went on to build a unique and meteoric career in the world of finance and management. He first went to Touche Ross & Company, where, as a CPA, he became a partner. In the early 1960s, Gwain was recruited to Chrysler Corporation where he quickly moved through the ranks, becoming one of the youngest to be a divisional leader as general manager of Dodge Trucks. His love of that position continued as he collected and restored antique Dodge pickups. In 1970, Gwain was tapped to run the French Division of Chrysler, Simca/Chrysler France and moved his family to Paris. It was under his leadership that Chrysler/Matra/Simca cars stacked up multiple wins at the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Gwain returned to Detroit, in 1976 to take on the position of executive vice president/CFO of Chrysler Corporation. In 1978 Gwain left Chrysler to become the senior vice president, finance and administration of Heublein, Inc., in Farmington, Connecticut. In 1983, Gwain was appointed to the position of senior vice president, chief financial officer, and a director of Richard Joshua Reynolds Industries, Inc., Winston-Salem, North Carolina. At RJR, he was instrumental in executing the widely published and complex RJR/Nabisco merger, the story of which became the novel and feature film Barbarians at the Gate. In 1987, Gwain relocated to Washington DC to take the position of executive vice president, CFO, and director at First American Bankshares Inc., Washington.

In 1988, after a brief tenure there, Gwain moved to become executive vice president of finance and administration as well as vice-chairman of Unum Corporation, Portland, Maine. Gwain retired from Unum in 1996. Throughout his life, Gwain was very active in professional and community organizations. Along with being regularly listed as a noteworthy financial executive by Marquis Who’s Who, he was the General Chairman of the 1978 Detroit United Foundation Torch Drive, raising a record $42 million. Most recently, he was involved with The Trustee Tax Foundation Inc., the board of directors for the Portland Concert Association, and the Maine Development Foundation. He was also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Finance Executives Institute.

While Gwain grew up with a love for performing music, either on his baritone horn, piano, or singing with his church groups, he was most intensely involved with athletics, first as a starter in football, basketball and all-state tennis player. His love for sports continued as a passionate fan of the Michigan Wolverines, and his favorites, the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.

Gwain is survived by his children, Shannon, Kevin (Kristine), Gwain (AKA Geordie) (Jenny), Alison (Greg), Patrick (Rhonda), Colin, (Ginger) and Patricia (Elliott).

He also leaves many other family members including his brothers Gayle and Marlyn, his grandchildren Benjamin, Heather, Carmen, Noah, Dominic, Quinn, Faith, Nadine, Max, Zoe, Nathan, Vera, Rhyland, Nigel, Athena, Avalon, Cat, Ford, Kathryn, Christopher, Michael, Nicholas as well as his great-grandchildren, Norah, Kia‘I, Isla, Tessa, Noelle, Dominick. Gwain is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 41 years, Janet Gillespie, his parents, Homer and Ruth, his siblings, Gwen, Ludwig, Phyllis, Marjorie, and Bonita, his daughter Robin and his stepson, Michael.

John B “Jack” Gillespie Jr, 43, of Nashua died at St. Joseph Hospital on Thursday, August 24, 2006. Mr. Gillespie was born in Boston, Massachusetts on June 3, 1963, a son of Patricia (White) Gillespie Callahan of Ipswich, MA and the late John B. Gillespie, Sr. He had resided in Nashua since 1995, and previously resided in So. Boston, MA. He was a painter for Spec Tech and AJP Painting for many years. Mr. Gillespie loved his children. Mr. Gillespie attended St. John Neumann Church in Merrimack. He was predeceased by a daughter, Nicole Gillespie. In addition to his mother, survivors include his fiancé, Cynthia Cameron of Nashua; three children, Melinda Gillespie of MA, Jacquelyn and Cameron Gillespie both of Nashua; a sister and brother-in-law, Patti and Steve Monahan of MA; four brothers and a sister-in-law, Brian Gillespie of MA, Frankie and Margaret Taylor of MA, Mike Taylor of MA, and Sammy Taylor of Portsmouth, NH; numerous nieces and nephews. nterment prayers and burial will be private. Dr John Barnhart Gillespie of Exeter, NH, left this world on May 1, 2026. Born on February 25, 1939, in Erie, Pennsylvania to the late John Calvin and Marjorie Barnhart Gillespie, John lived a life filled with love, faith, optimism, and service. For eight summers, John served as a lifeguard at Presque Isle, Lake Erie, developing a strong work ethic and a lifelong love of swimming. At 16, he met Mary Beth Nottelmann at an Erie YMCA “Shy Club” dance; they shared more than seven decades together, marrying in 1962. John graduated from Allegheny College and earned his medical degree from Jefferson Medical School, specializing in obstetrics and gynecology. As a Major in the U.S. Air Force, he served as an obstetrician at Warner Robins Air Force Base in Georgia.

In 1971, he and Mary Beth settled in Durham, New Hampshire, where he became a partner in Garrison Medical Professional Association in Dover, delivering thousands of babies at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital. Dedicated to the health of women in southeastern New Hampshire, “Dr. G.” pioneered ultrasound technology and the first water birth in the region. More importantly, he brought compassion, patience, and the gentle kindness that defined him to a profession he truly loved. Even today, it’s common to hear “Dr. G. delivered my children” or “Dr. G. delivered me!” throughout the region. Together, John and Mary Beth raised three children: John Andrew Gillespie (Natalie Capone), William Gillespie, and Sarah Old (John Old). He was an active member of Durham Community Church, finding not only a spiritual home to grow his faith, but also a group with which to have deep philosophical discussions. Upon moving to Exeter he joined the Congregational Church in Exeter UCC.

In 1976, John and Mary Beth bought a cottage on Lake Winnipesaukee in Alton Bay, which became the heart of their family life every summer. He shared his love of swimming and the lake with his six grandchildren: Ian, Sydney (Reilly Linkel), Elliot, Elia and Emmett Gillespie, and Elizabeth Old. John was always first to say yes: kayaking, sailing, motorboating, water-tubing. If a grandchild wanted to race to jump off the dock, swim to the island, water ski at dawn, or hike Mount Major, they knew John would be by their side.

In 2001, John met a diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease with his characteristic optimism, determined to keep seizing every opportunity. His lifelong dedication to exercise served him well, keeping him active to the end. John and Mary Beth moved to Riverwoods Exeter in 2004 to ensure they’d have support for whatever life might bring. ohn is missed by his devoted soulmate Mary Beth, his children, grandchildren, sisters Phyllis Cowles (late John Cowles) and Nancy Kilborn (late Vaughn Kilborn), brother-in-law William Nottelmann and sister-in-law Karen Nottelmann, many nieces and nephews – especially Beth Nottelmann Keller and Greg Keller – and enough friends to know his heart was always full. He was predeceased by his sister Marilyn Foster (late Gordon Foster) and parents-in-law John and Rachel Nottelmann. A celebration of John’s life was held at 2 PM on Monday, May 18, at the Great Bay Room at Riverwoods Exeter (7 Riverwoods Drive).

Richard “Dick” Gillespie, 78, of Nashua, NH, passed away, on November 3, 2025. He was born in Colchester, Vermont, on December 19, 1946, son of the late Claude Gillespie and Dorothy (Gooding) Gillespie. He was the loving husband of Dorothy “Dot” (Schwalje) Gillespie, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage. They were married on June 6, 1970, in Metuchen, New Jersey.

Dick was a graduate of South Burlington High School and went on to attend the University of Vermont, where he earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in geology. He proudly served in the Vermont National Guard for six years, achieving the rank of Second Lieutenant. Throughout his professional career, Dick worked as a structural geologist for Stone & Webster Engineering, specializing in site studies for nuclear power plants at home and abroad. He was a dedicated and meticulous professional who took great pride in his work.

A longtime resident of Nashua, he served eight years on the Conservation Commission and 20 years on the Mine Falls Park Committee. He organized and lead trail repair projects drawing upon his understanding of soils and water. He was a quiet leader and a steward of Nashua land. Dick enjoyed playing Senior Softball, spending weekends at their lake house, managing finances and doing home improvement projects. He was a devoted caretaker of his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Dot; and their two sons, Todd Gillespie and his wife Ashley, and Scott Gillespie. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Reagan, and Kennedy Gillespie; his sister, Eileen Loucks, and her husband Derry; his brother, Paul Gillespie, and his wife Roberta; as well as several nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed and remembered as a loving, selfless person. A memorial visitation was held on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home, 1 Lock St., Nashua, NH 03064. A memorial service took place the following day, Friday, November 21, 2025, at 11:00 at First Congregational Church Nashua.

On Monday, 26th of April 2021, Stephanie Gillespie, 60 of Nottingham, NH took her final run to reunite with her Father, Stephen Grande; her Sister, Joanne Grande; and her Nephew, Thomas Leech in Heaven. We lost our Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Nana, and Friend suddenly to a cardiac event. Stephanie leaves behind her husband of 31 years Brett, Daughter Jennie, 34, Sons Terry Smith 48, Sammy 30, and 2 Grandchildren Arina Gillespie, 6, and Anthony Thomas Edward Shattuck 5 whom she poured her heart and soul into.
