Edward Gillespie, William Gillespie & Francis Gillespie were early settlers here: PO Cork 1884-1886; PO Cork Gillespie 1886-1914 was located 3 km N of the previous post office. In 1898 Gillespie Settlement was a farming community with a population of 125.
